Students Housing

We are a campus university. All undergraduate students reside in residential colleges located on the university campus. We only have 30 single apartments reserved for graduate students.

-A double apartment consists of two single furnished rooms of approximately 15m2. On entry, each room in a double apartment has a separate door that can be locked, so that roommates can have their privacy if need be.

-Furniture includes a wardrobe, desk, chair, bookshelf and a bed of about 1.90m long x 0.90m wide.

-Roommates share a bathroom. Each student has his or her own sink but share all other sanitary facilities with his or her roommate access.

-Each floor of about 20 students has its own kitchen.

-Every student has a locker in the basement for storing personal belongings like empty suitcases

-Every house consisting of 3 floors have a common laundry, also located in the basement.

Allocation Process:

The allocation process for incoming students will be conducted by Jacobs University. According to our policy the main criteria for allocating incoming students to a double apartment are that apartment mates should be of the same gender and of different nationality in their first year of study.
Residential Colleges
Jacobs University is home to four residential colleges; Alfried Krupp College, Mercator College, College lll and College IV.

The colleges provide students with living and working accommodation. Each college comprises students and faculty of different disciplines, origins, and ages. Lively exchanges between students and faculty are encouraged outside as well as inside the seminar room.

Each college is headed by two college masters, a professor and his family, who resides in the college and share responsibility for the students with four or five Resident Associates.

Testimonials

It’s quite difficult to describe a typical day a Jacobs University, because each new day generally brings with it an entirely new experience, new situation, or new knowledge. However, many things do occur regularly- classes, food, friends, work- so I suppose I’ll just begin there.

Since the day I got here, all the students have been really nice with me. My roomy became my best friend. Now we do all together, and at night it became even funnier. Jacobs University gave us the opportunity to express ourselves with other students and professors.
